Terms of service

The short, honest version

Last updated 16 September 2026. Plain language on purpose; if you need a formal contract, ask us.

What we do

That's not me searches public social platforms for accounts that resemble the accounts you register, scores them, and shows you the result. When you confirm a suspect, we post a warning to the Discord channel you chose. We are a monitoring and notification tool, not a takedown service and not a guarantee.

What an alert is, and what it is not

A "suspected look-alike" is an account our software found similar to yours by handle, name, photo or bio. A similarity score is an estimate produced by software. It is not a determination that the account is fraudulent, that it impersonates you, or that its owner has done anything wrong, and we never make such a determination, before or after your confirmation.

When you confirm a suspect, the announcement to your community states two facts and nothing more: that you, the creator, have confirmed the account is not yours, and that our software found it similar. It does not call the account a scam or its owner a criminal, and you agree not to add such claims through the service.

Your decisions, your responsibility

Nothing is announced to your community until you, or a moderator you empowered, confirms it. That confirmation is your statement, made by you about your own accounts, and you are responsible for it. Confirm only accounts you know are not yours. Use "It's fine" or "Always allow" for friends, fan pages, brands and your own other accounts. You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from confirmations you or your moderators make.

No guarantee of detection or accuracy

Platforms limit what search returns. We will miss some look-alikes and will surface accounts that are legitimate. Ad-library results are what the library matched for your name, nothing more.

If your account was flagged

If you own an account that appeared in an alert and believe it was flagged in error, email support@thatsnotme.io with the account and the community concerned. We will pass the dispute to the creator, ask them to review it, and where the creator withdraws the confirmation we will update or remove the announcement we control. We do not control what platforms or community members do with an alert.

Your accounts

Register only accounts you own or are authorised to protect. We may remove registrations that appear to belong to someone else.

Fair use

The beta includes a limited number of protected accounts and manual scans per day. Automated or abusive use may lead to suspension.

Data

See the privacy page. You can delete your account and all its data from Settings at any time.

Liability

The service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from missed look-alikes, accounts wrongly surfaced, statements creators or moderators make through the service, or actions you, your community or third parties take on the basis of an alert.

Changes and contact

We may change these terms; material changes will be announced in the app. Questions: support@thatsnotme.io.
